Equipment Relocator: London (AZ)
This is a skilled Equipment Relocator commercial driver role embedded within our Fleet Maintenance division for individuals who want a dynamic position utilizing both precision driving and mechanical intuition. You are responsible for the safe, timely transport of tractors and trailers between our yard and third-party repair shops.
The Job:
- Unit Transport & Shuttle: Safely drive tractors, trailers, and combinations between the home yard and multiple repair shops. Follow dispatched routing across shops and adjust on the fly depending on shop timelines or unit availability changes.
- Pre-Trip & Post-Trip Inspections: Perform thorough commercial pre-trip and post-trip inspections on every unit. Document defects accurately, flag out-of-service conditions, confirm units are road-legal, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Precision Maneuvering & Backing: Maneuver tractor-trailer combinations into tight, cramped spaces within commercial shop yards, service bays, and congested lots. Execute blind-side and offset backing while operating with full awareness of clearances to avoid contact or damage.
- Fault Verification & Troubleshooting: Apply basic mechanical intuition to verify driver-reported complaints (e.g., air leaks, electrical issues, lighting, brakes) before and after shop visits. Reproduce and confirm faults, rule out simple/no-fault-found issues, and relay clear symptom descriptions to shops and the coordinator.
- Manual Physical Labour: Execute manual physical labour as part of daily duties, including operating manual hand pumps to raise and lower hydraulic trailer roofs. Connect/disconnect air and electrical lines, crank landing gear, and handle tarps, chains, and securement hardware in all weather conditions.
- Real-Time Coordination & Tech Use: Maintain high-frequency, real-time communication with the Maintenance & Repair Coordinator and interface professionally with third-party shop service advisors. Efficiently use workplace technology like Gmail, Zoom, Google Maps, and rideshare apps to manage assignments and arrange alternative transit.
The Requirements:
- Experience: 4+ years of experience working in a similar role.
- Record: Valid, clean AZ license with a clean abstract required and no major infractions.
- Skill: Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor repairs, use basic communication tools, and work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work under pressure and tight timelines with a professional/mature demeanor.
Compensation & Perks:
- Top-Tier Pay: $32.50 per hour + performance bonus.
- Company Benefits: Group benefits available after a 3-month probationary period.
- Retirement & Bonuses: Eligible for company RSP matching program after one year of service.
- Paid Time Off: 10 paid vacation days per year.
- Schedule & Availability: Full-time job with occasional overtime or weekend shifts as needed.
